Eclipse

I just finished the sixth track on Penumbra called Eclipse. It is very harmonic and tender and a little enyaish. I’m content.
Rest in peace…

An Old-Fashioned Melody

And when you think you’re there, you find out that you completely forgot about the rules of orchestration. Time flies, and things I do not practice I often forget. So I bought a book on orchestration, bought the NED tutorials on Sibelius and started to learn it again.
Although it was never intentional, it seems that all of my albums got intruded by at least one classically orchestral piece. There’s ‘Walk No Further’ on EL FAKIR, ‘Against the Windmill’ on DON QUIJOTE, ‘Theoretical Silence’ on THE WAIT, then ‘Memoir’, on MEMOIR, of course. PENUMBRA is going to reveal ‘Horizon’ in this fashion and now 14 DREAMS OF LIFE has just bloomed ‘Half A World Away’.
And this last one, I really really want to do it by the book. So, back to study! And you, back to listening good music.

Videorama

By the time I finished my first video Quiddity for ‘Fourteen Dreams of Life‘, I accidentally ran into another video, made by hermitwalker, who took a track from ‘The Wait’ here on Jamendo and made a cool thing out of it.
You should watch both of them.

Experimenting with binaural beats
Posted by zsolnai | Filed under studio
A very nice Danish guy at Facebook is helping me understand the technological possibilites in making these alpha wave mixes. One approach is the widely-known binaural beats technology, where the left and the right ear gets the music with 8-12 Hz difference, but it only works when heard through headphones.
Another approach I recently read about here.
I’m very excited to see how it works. In the meantime, the concept album, ‘Fourteen Dreams of Life’ is being developed in a smooth and surprisingly fast fashion. Again, the track previews are available at Fawm.org. Listen, enjoy, review.

New Directions
Posted by zsolnai | Filed under studio
Everyone, hello.
I would lie if I said I’ve never worked on more than one project simultaneously, and usually it enlengthened the process quite a bit. But what can I do? I’m doing the same mistake now.
While the new “regular” album ‘Penumbra‘ is in hibernation for a while, I’m experimenting on healing/relaxing music, based on the 14 song-siblings I composed for the 2009 FAWM at fawm.org.
This “non-regular” album (meaning, it’s a concept album which will be released in two different versions) ‘Fourteen Dreams of Life‘ is a first for me: while there will be a version on Jamendo under creative commons, downloadable for free and supported with possible donations, an alpha-wave mix will be sold on iTunes – musically the same experience, but with a healing/relaxing effect on the listener.
I hope, this way everyone will be able to make a choice and get exactly what they want. Suggestions welcome, as always.
